If you're worth say, $500K (a random number) and she leaves you, you're now only worth $250K. Add to it a business owner or kids and that changes the economics in her favor. I'm not saying us married guys live in fear, but you should be trying to keep your lady happy. To exclude her from big decisions like buying a (for the most part) impractical car, you're heading down the wrong path. How I handle it is that I have a seperate checking account that isn't used to pay our bills or direct deposit my pay check. I get an agreed upon 'slush fund' allowance every month that I use to buy electronics and other toys that are not necessarily used by the rest of the household. As long as I manage the fund, I'm fine. When something major comes up and I have to dip elsewhere for funds, she is involved in the decision.
